NEC wins global award
The solution allows a network operator to reduce operational costs in Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) deployments.

The award was given at the Broadband World Forum Europe 2008, organised by the IEC (International Engineering Consortium) in Brussels this month.

NEC was the sole winner of the Access Network Technologies and Services category.

Judging was based on originality and vision, the overall quality of innovation, contribution toward industry growth and service.

“The IEC’s InfoVision Awards commend the top contributors to the information and communications technologies (ICT) industry,” said John Janowiak President of the IEC.

“We’re pleased to recognise NEC as an InfoVision winner for its Remote Testing and Provisioning Solution.

"Our judges have found that the NEC solution makes one of the most significant and positive contributions to the business case for deep fibre access networks.”

According to John Del Papa, general manager Telecoms Network Systems, NEC Australia, the solution was designed and built at its headquarters in Melbourne.

“With our RTP Solution we are working to make the truck roll a thing of the past.

“Operators who have NEC products in their networks will already recognise the extremely high reliability and quality that we bring.

“Now, we are actively removing OpEx costs from access networks, reducing the burden of testing and reconfiguration, and freeing up resources to dedicate to more profitable activities,” he added.
