Software solutions provider Scope Systems has acquired NEC Australia's ERP arm operating out of Perth.
"As part of this acquisition a number of ERP specialists will join our team, bringing additional IP and experience… providing a scale we previously did not have by doubling our software consulting and development teams," said Scope Systems managing director Troy Morrison.
The buyout means Scope expands its existing ERP portfolio of Pronto Xi and Qlik Business Intelligence software to now include Microsoft technologies. Scope stated that the addition of Microsoft capabilities would allow it to "create wider enterprise-scale solutions".
Scope Systems' current clientele has a strong mining sector bias. Morrison said the acquisition of NEC would bring it into other verticals, although minerals companies would remain its bread-and-butter.
"NEC’s Perth-based ERP business focus has been in manufacturing and logistics, wholesale and retail. The collective strengths of the merged businesses allows us to provide specialists in a number of industry sectors," he said. "The broader mining sector will continue to be a major part of Scope's business."
The purchase takes the head count for Scope above the 90 mark, spread around offices in Perth, Brisbane and Johannesburg, South Africa.
"The acquisition also brings additional benefits to our clients through custom built industry specific modules from both the Scope Systems and NEC side, which extends the functional capabilities of our solutions," Morrison said.
Scope Systems is a 20-year-old ERP specialist that boasts over 10,000 users from 300 clients. NEC Australia is a well-known Japanese electronics vendor brand that has transformed into an integrator in recent times, demonstrated by deals with Department of Defence and the South Australian government.
