Distributor Multimedia Technology has taken on HP Inc’s consumer solid-state drives (SSDs).
The drives are made by a licensed manufacturer and it is that entity, not HP Inc. itself, that has done the deal with the distie.
The distie (MMT) has started handling HP’s NVMe range, portable SSD and 2.5 inch SATA internal drives, and expects to stock more from the range in the future.
“We were approached to distribute the HP Consumer SSDs as a result of a continuing long term relationship with the licensed manufacturer,” MMT purchasing manager Mark Eichler said.
“It’s a well-positioned product group and it was a simple decision to jump on board.”
MMT has stocked some drives as part of a soft launch and has received a warm reception from resellers. The distie also stocks SSDs from Samsung, Seagate and Western Digital.
Eichler declined to name the licenced manufacturer but said MMT sees a “natural desire” for resellers to use HP-certified products, given the vendor’s position in the Australian PC market.
“We expect that sales of HP SSD’s will be incremental on our existing business that we’re committed to from the market leader Samsung.”
