Queensland-based Oper8 is expanding into remote regions of far-north Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
The MSP is also looking at providing managed services to a number of banks in New Guinea and Fiji.
The expansion comes as the firm is appointed as the first managed service provider partner for virtualisation vendor Silver Peak in Asia-Pacific.
Oper8 will begin offering Silver Peak’s WAN optimisation tool with an as-a-service model.
Sales and marketing manager Tony Riley said the partnership positions Oper8 to expand into new territory.
“As a cloud service provider we often encounter a real barrier in remote regions due to communication costs becoming prohibitive when customers need bandwidth for big data operations,” said Riley.
“Silver Peak’s great benefit lies in its ability to deliver faster, more reliable and more cost-effective communications that represent the missing piece in our plans to open up cloud services to businesses in these regions.”’
Oper8’s data centre services run from Polaris’s Springfield facility in Queensland.
