Motorola has appointed Transition Systems Australia as a national distributor for its wireless networking solutions (WNS).
Motorola WNS includes wireless broadband, wireless LAN, AirDefense wireless security, network assurance and converged enterprise communications.
Under the agreement, Transition will distribute the full range of Motorola's WNS range except for its VoIP line.
Roy Wittert, Australia and New Zealand manager for WNS, Motorola (pictured) said the distributor will help build the vendor's channel capacity as "it ramps up its channel marketing activity across Australia and New Zealand."
"The reason why we're bringing in [Transition] is to grow our partner base," he said.
"We have a key focus on education, local council, wireless ISPs, utilities, mining and natural resources," he added.
Transition Systems Australia is part of the Transition Systems Group, which has offices throughout Southeast Asia and India. However, this agreement is Australia only.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for us to partner with a serious market player and a respected global brand," said Wittert.
The appointment does not replace any of the existing Motorola distributors: Lan1, Ingram Micro, Pos Pos and Alloys.
In November, Motorola set an ambitious target to become "number one or two" in the enterprise wireless space.
