Mitel signs Westcon Comstor as first distie in Australia

Unified communications vendor Mitel has signed a distribution partnership for its full portfolio of communication and collaboration solutions in Australia and New Zealand.

The deal, commencing on 1 September, marks the first distributor agreement Mitel has signed in Australia, having previously only operated directly. Mitel will have Westcon provide logistics, delivering and partner enablement and support programs. Westcon will also deliver certified training to partners.

The partnership forms part of a renewed go-to-market for Mitel, according to the vendor, one that sees it use a smaller number of disties as part of a partner program update and refocus on cloud.

Westcon International chief operating officer David Grant said it would be a strategic partnership for the distributor.

“Our business has always been focused on helping partners develop profitable business through a combination of global supply chain capabilities and channel support across our core technology specialisations,” he said.

“Our services and support and digital distribution expertise will enable partners to succeed in both today’s market and the future as we transition to an increasingly software-driven world with new procurement and consumption models.”

Mitel’s international senior vice president Jeremy Butt said the vendor’s go-to-market needed to be quick and easy.

“Through our partnership with Westcon, Mitel resellers will be able to quickly and easily take advantage of both our world-class UCC solutions and Westcon’s superior service to better support customers on their digital transformation journey.”
