Mia Distribution and RingCentral strike distie deal

Mia Distribution and RingCentral have struck up a distribution deal covering unified communications hardware.

Which may sound a little odd to some readers as RingCentral doesn’t make hardware, instead offering cloudy voice, contact centre and collaboration services.

But end-customers often decide to use dedicated hardware to drive those services and RingCentral has preferred hardware brands it works with. Which is how this deal works: Mia will provide local fulfilment for any phone handsets and video hardware end-customers include in their RingCentral contracts. The distie will also pre-configure that kit for customers, so it will plug and play.

RingCentral already provides desk, cordless, receptionist and conference phones from Poly, Yealink and Cisco to its end-customers. Now orders for that kit will pass through integrated ordering, provisioning, and fulfilment processes that see all RingCentral orders handled by Mia. RingCentral customers can also order additional UC hardware from Mia Distribution through the RingCentral portal.

Mia already distributes Poly, Yealink and Cisco, so it’s not needed new relationships to make this work.

The new arrangement means kit will be available locally, rather than the previous arrangement that saw product shipped to Australia if ordered through RingCentral. Customers could also order their own UC hardware.

Now they’ll instead be able to order UC services and hardware through the RingCentral portal.
