Meraki updates with new “wireless WAN”, new switch

Cisco has unveiled a new line of wireless WAN technology with its Meraki Gateway (MG) cellular gateway range, as well as a new access switch.

Meraki Gateway offers cellular connectivity with simple provisioning and management, by way of a single-pane-of-glass management of wired and wireless networks and zero-touch remote deployment.

The new access switch, model MS390, is built on Meraki’s intent-based networking.

The MG21 and MG21e, as well as the MS390, will be orderable in Cisco’s fiscal Q2.

Cisco said the new hardware aims to further extend partners' addressable market and simplify the implementation of networking and security, so they can spend less time building networks for customers.

Meraki also launched new security features and multi-domain integrations with Cisco’s security portfolio, including Meraki Trusted Access, Umbrella-powered DNS traffic protection on Meraki MR and security appliance firewall rules.

Trusted Access provides device authentication without the need for an MDM solution.
