Melbourne provider helps Horizon Power save 45% on reporting bill

Melbourne-headquartered Prima Consulting has helped Horizon Power save 45 percent in report production by deploying Qlik's visual analytics solution.

Horizon Power provides power to 100,000 residents and 10,000 businesses across regional and remote Western Australia. With business intelligence software QlikView, Horizon Power also registered a 60 percent reduction in report delivery time.

Previously, Horizon Power had a dedicated analytics team, but reports could take weeks to be generated, according to Qlik.

"When analytics and IT teams act as intermediaries, some of that [data] value is often lost in translation. This not only leads to less-informed decisions, but makes the process much more costly and inefficient," said Qlik ANZ regional director Sharryn Napier.

Qlik is a US-headquarted software vendor for self-service data visualisation, guided analytics applications, embedded analytics and reporting.

Horizon Power business intelligence coordinator Geoff Pearson said: "When we first started BI analytics reporting we were committed to IBM Cognos software, but we wanted a solution that had the ability to directly supply reports to relevant stakeholders in the organisation."

QlikView enabled reports to be easily generated by staff. "This not only reduces the cost and time it takes to deliver reports, but also ensures those reports are always up to date, which is a main area of concern for us," said Pearson.
