Melbourne IT promoted to AWS global elite

Melbourne IT has joined a select group of 25 AWS partners around the world to earn the status of Managed Service Provider partner.

The hosting provider joins Datacom in the public cloud giant’s MSP program, and claims to be the first in Australia with AWS Premier Consulting status to earn the title.

AWS launched the MSP program last year and requires partners to earn US$10,000 per month in direct or indirect revenue. The program is designed for those skilled at cloud infrastructure and application migration, and offering proactive monitoring, automation and other services. Partners must have “deep AWS knowledge” and pass a third party audit.

The program is designed to identify partners that go "beyond simple infrastructure” and provide an “end-to-end capability”, said Melbourne IT director of cloud practice Steve McCormick.

Partners must also have more than three AWS customer referrals a month, more than four AWS certified staff and more than two trained system operations on AWS or DevOps engineering on AWS staff.

AWS launched the MSP program in 2014, with the first international partners announced last month, including Datacom.

Benefits include eligibility for free AWS usage credits for development work or customer proof of concepts, access to NDA roadmap webinars, eligibility for marketing funds and professional services workshops and training subsidies.
