Independent Australian vendor Megaport has released a new wholesale product, MegaDirect, to add to its channel programme.
"Megaport includes a 1Gbps port and virtual cross-connect over the Megaport fabric and provides Megaport partners direct connectivity to their customers from any major data centre in Australia," said a statement from the connection provider.
The company said the MegaDirect's technology is the same as the standard 10Gbps service, including instant self-provisioning and monitoring through a browser or mobile app.
Founder and chief executive Bevan Slattery said of MegaDirect: "The investment brings a strategic play to all providers, enabling them immediate access to every data centre across the country and opening up doors for future growth and business relationships."
Megaport also stated that a "Partner Marketplace" will be launched in the coming weeks, which will allow resellers to "connect to a multitude of companies across a wide range of sectors and access to every user on the Megaport ecosystem".
"Partners have the option to integrate via Megaport’s RESTful API to provide end customers the ability to connect via the [reseller's own] portal or ordering system," said the statement.
In addition to the MegaDirect launch and the expected arrival of the partner marketplace, Megaport's recent channel investment has also been evident in last week's hiring of a new Australian partner manager.
In February, Megaport revealed Olympic gold medallist Libby Trickett was helping drive the company's channel growth.
