Megaport gives Aussie businesses direct line into Google

Megaport will help partners offer customers direct access into Google's Cloud Platform.

Megaport has achieved Google Cloud Platform Authorised Technology Partner status, meaning it can offer enterprise-grade connections to Google’s network edge. Customers can also connect a private data centre directly to the Google Cloud Platform via VPN tunnel.

Chief marketing officer Brooke Mouland said Megaport would use its economies of scale to help smaller partners. 

“There are a lot of startups and up-and-comers that are not at that level [of buying power to Google],” Mouland said.

Megaport will broker access on their behalf, and “slice and dice” connectivity for customers.

The service includes automated quotes, activation and a management platform of network services for Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Storage, Google BigQuery, Google App Engine or other Google Cloud Platform services.

While Megaport offers the service directly to customers, Mouland said partners have an opportunity to get involved where customers need to procure access from the edge of the Megaport network.

He said channel providers have the ability to put together end-to-end solutions, such as disaster recovery.
