Manaccom’s new buy helps regional IT resellers
Ian Mackay deputy chairman at Manaccom told CRN it had purchased the distributor – for an undisclosed sum - in a bid to provide more services for IT resellers in regional areas.

“We are in the business of publishing and distributing software products,’ he said.

“In the past we have concentrated on large resellers like Harvey Norman, JB and OfficeWorks.”

However, Mackay said Intellitron will help it to expand its base of dealers in regional areas, because he feels they are not being worked as they could be.

“The relationships regional resellers have with their customers are a lot stronger than dealers in the capital cities, because there is a lot more support for local business” he said.

“In the city, customers go on price and not on a service level – which is expected in the country.”

Intellitron will be absorbed into Manaccom and will act as a division of the company.

According to Mackay it will not take all seven of Intellitron’s employees.

“We are selecting employees for positions within the organisation. Some workers have already taken other jobs,” he said.

“What we will be doing is combining the two organisations so that some Manaccom employees will work within Intellitron and vice versa,” Mackay said.

Off the back of its recent purchase, Mackay said Manaccom has also announced it will be paying its first maiden dividend to shareholders.

“We are trading very well and we will be paying shareholders 4.35 percent on current share prices.”
