Content Security founder and chief executive Louis Abdilla has resigned from the cybersecurity MSP after more than 19 years leading the company.

Abdilla wrote to partners and customers on Friday to announce his decision, revealing that co-founder Phil Wurth would become the company’s new CEO.

“We opened our doors in 2000 reselling anti-virus software, and used this as a platform to build Content Security into a cybersecurity market leader,” Abdilla wrote.

“As the market and industry grew, so did the requirements of our customers. Our focus has been, and continues to be, our customers who we are delighted to be able to support with a range of solutions and services.

“Phil is excited to be stepping into the role of CEO. As many of you know, he is passionate about the cybersecurity industry and continues to have our customers' interest foremost. Our business partnership has been a great success story and the Aussie dream.

"We were two young guys just out of school looking to build something that many thought would not become what it is today; but with hard work and commitment to service, we have continued to exceed all expectations.”

Abdilla said that while moving on had been a tough decision, he had no doubt Wurth would take the business to the next stage. Abdilla will remain a stakeholder in the business.

"I am very excited for Phil Wurth, my great buddy from High School, in taking the reigns as the CEO and I wish him the very best. I will remain as a shareholder of CS providing advice when needed," Abdilla told CRN.

"I have met so many great people within the information security industry such as my colleagues, partners and most importantly customers and I would like to thank them all for their support and friendship.

"I am very excited about taking a break and plan on travelling around Australia to destinations such as Uluru and Tasmania in the near future."

Content Security provides solutions from vendors including Trend Micro, Tenable Network Security, Palo  Alto Networks, RSA, Check Point, Symantec, Fortinet and more. The company provides a number of services including managed security, security assurance, and governance, risk and compliance.
