Lenovo extends telco mobility partnering
Telstra has partnered with Lenovo to form a new notebook and connectivity offering for the SMB market.

Lenovo will offer four notebook models including the ThinkPad R60 and the Lenovo 3000 C100 under the deal

Telstra will offer a port replicator, connection to an eligible Telstra Mobile Broadband PC Pack plan on a 24 month contract and a Telstra Mobile Broadband modem.

Telstra Business managing director Elizabeth Aris said the bundles were aimed at addressing SMBs’ need for mobility and productivity.

Using Telstra’s 1xEV-DO network, users would be able to achieve access speeds 10 times faster than dial-up modems, she said.

The deal marks the continuing trend of notebook vendors partnering with telcos to feed the growing SMB mobility market.

As reported in iTNews, Lenovo signed on with Vodafone for 3G mobile broadband connectivity on its ThinkPad T60 and X60 notebooks in May.

Similarly, Vodafone announced that it had signed a similar deal with Dell aimed at OEMing its broadband Media Connect card in January.
