Leading Edge starts national mobile repair network

Leading Edge Group has signed the first member of a new mobile phone and tablet repair group Smart Choice Tech Repairs.

Targeting more than 1,000 mobile kiosks and stores around Australia, the group aims to signup members who will “provide reliable and trustworthy mobile tech repair service at an affordable price”.

Leading Edge Group hopes to recruit more than 50 members in the first year and a further 100 members in the second year. The first store is located in Bunbury, Western Australia.

There has been “strong interest” from existing Leading Edge Group members in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales, said group general manager Lee Scott.

“This group has been quick to garner positive response from both our existing and new valued vendor partners which has been encouraging,” he said.

Scott couldn't comment on the potential margins for phone and tablet repairs, but added that "judging by the growth of dedicated repair shops and kiosks over the last couple of years doing repairs and selling accessories the margin mix must be acceptable for them."

Members will have access to accreditation programs, with staff trained in smartphone and tablet repairs. Leading Edge Group will also offer nationally negotiated supplier agreements, extended credit through central billing and national marketing programs.

Member stores are also being promised the opportunity to participate in nationally negotiated repair contracts.

The group was created after “extensive market research” with Leading Edge also looking to grow the market with people looking to start their own mobility repair business.
