Leader Computers has been named ANZ distributor of the year by solid-state drive and dynamic RAM vendor Crucial.
Crucial is a subsidiary of global memory vendor Micron Technology, along with Lexar.
Micron national sales manager Richard Clarke said Leader was awarded for showing relentless brand focus and drive. Leader also the most Micron products in 2015.
“In truth, Leader hardly put a foot wrong throughout 2015,” said Clarke. “When one channel slowed down, others were there to maintain their business. That said, the brilliant staff who manage the Crucial portfolio at Leader make a massive contribution to this overall success.
Leader managing director Theo Kristoris said he was honoured to win the award: “Our purpose is to help our resellers grow and be profitable. We see our role to IT channel in Australia to provide industry-leading products for distribution. Crucial delivers on all fronts. We use Crucial products in all our Leader [PCs] and we know thousands of resellers in our channel also do [the] same.”
Leader made headlines this year when it announced it was acquiring the selected assets of failed distributor Altech. Kristoris told CRN that Leader had acquired Altech’s customer list and inventory, and was in talks to inherit “around 12” of Altech’s vendors. PC manufacturers Shuttle, Awyun and Astrotek have all shifted from Altech to Leader already.
