Taiwanese storage vendor Thecus Technology has appointed Leader Computers as its exclusive Australian distributor.
Thecus previously had distribution agreements with Synnex, Rectron and Eternal Asia, but a Leader spokesperson said it is now the only distributor for Australia and New Zealand.
"Synnex and Rectron now buy from us at a sub-distributor price," said the spokesperson.
Although Leader Computers acquired Altech earlier this year, the vendor was not one of the brands inherited in the deal, according to the spokesperson.
Thecus stated that Leader Computers' 30 years of experience would help its expansion in the Australian data storage market.
"Leader is a leading distributor in their territory, with a strong reputation for supreme service, innovation, fast delivery and reliable localised support. Leader's distribution network provides Thecus with a tremendous portal to its Australian and New Zealand customers," Thecus chief executive Florence Shih said.
Leader's five warehouses in Australia will stock the full range of Thecus products.
"We are extremely excited about new products and technology Thecus is releasing in 2016," Leader Computers managing director Theo Kristoris said.
