Lako Pacific has reopened its arms to Ulead Systems despite its decision to drop it for distributor Acorn Group - headed by an ex-Lako employee - last year.
Prior to the incident, Lako Pacific and Ulead had been partners since Lako first brought Ulead to Australia in 1987, said marketing manager Eugene Wong.
He said Lako lost the distributions rights when Ulead decided to test the market with smaller distributor, Acorn Group.
“We were hurt by Lako's decision to go with Acorn - we scratched our heads and wondered why,” he said. “The decision not only hurt us, but also our education channel. We did a lot to get in Ulead into Victoria and establish it in the education field.”
Lako Pacific re-acquired the rights to distribute the taiwan-based vendor following Acorn's recent dropping. Ulead was not happy with the distributors performance, Wong claimed.
Ulead is a developer of video, imaging and DVD authoring software for desktop, server, mobile and Internet platforms.
Acorn Group would not comment on the change. Ulead was unavailable for comment.
