Kaspersky Lab has appointed Scott Warren as channel manager for Australia and New Zealand, replacing Samantha Gotting who left in May to join NBN Co.
He commenced his role on 2 July and will be based out of the cybersecurity vendor’s new Sydney office once it opens in 2019. He reports directly to Kaspersky ANZ general manager Margrith Appleby.
Warren will be responsible for driving channel sales and maintaining relationships with assigned channel partners, including developing sales strategies and training sales teams.
“Our commitment to the channel has now given us more opportunity to grow business in New South Wales,” Appleby told CRN.
“With a Sydney office to be in operation next year and the hire of a new channel sales manager based in New South Wales, we look forward to growing business together with our partners.”
Warren joins Kaspersky after working as regional sales manager at software vendor FinalCode and in various managerial and channel roles with Targus, Samsung, Arrow ECS, and a few others in Sydney and Singapore.
Last month, Kaspersky froze all of its cyber security collaborations with European agencies and organisations in protest against an EU statement that referred to its software as "malicious".
The company also saw its lawsuit challenging the US government's ban on its products thrown out by a US federal judge, effectively keeping the ban in effect.
