JB Hi-Fi has appointed former Catch of the Day executive Tim Carter to take charge of its online and commercial business.
Carter's role as online and commercial director is a new one at JB Fi-Fi. CEO Richard Murray said it was the "right time", due to the growth of both areas.
As well as spending two years as chief operating officer at Catch of the Day, Carter spent almost six years at JB Hi-Fi between 2005 and 2011, including as general manager of supply chain and inventory. Other roles include director of bookkeeping and advisory firm Balance Plus Partners.
He is not the only person to have held a high rank at both JB Hi-Fi and Catch of the Day. Former JB Hi-Fi group financial controller Paul Reining went on to become group CEO of Catch Group, including Catch of the Day, Scoopon and other websites.
Online sales are still a small proportion of JB Hi-Fi's total revenue, though they are growing. The company also launched a new website this year.
The company has high hopes for its commercial division, with a long term goal of $500 million in sales per year.
JB Hi-Fi's net profit after tax grew by 10.3 percent to $128.4 million in the 2014 financial year.
