Ivanti, formerly Landesk and Heat Software, buys software asset management vendor Concorde Solutions

IT asset management software developer Ivanti has acquired UK-based software-as-a-service management vendor Concorde Solutions and doubled down its software asset management position.

Terms of the acquisition, Ivanti's ninth in five years, were not disclosed, however, Ivanti reported it had the financial backing of private investment firm Clearlake Capital.

The US-based software vendor is expected to benefit from Concorde's licence optimisation technology, which allows management of client-side applications as well as enterprise-scale server products such as those developed by Oracle, Microsoft, VMware and IBM.

Ivanti chief executive Steve Daly said the acquisition filled a gap in Ivanti's asset management offering

"By bringing together Concorde’s software licensing expertise and Ivanti’s asset intelligence and endpoint management capabilities, we’re providing customers total asset management from a single point of control," he said.

"Due to our close collaboration over the past year, we will be able to offer customers immediate access to the enhanced portfolio of solutions.”

Concorde chairman Andy Burton said software asset management was a critical discipline for any enterprise today, and that his company had served the needs of the industry well.

“We look forward to seeing the combined business having an even greater impact in providing much-needed solutions for complicated asset decision-making processes in the enterprise IT estate," he said.

On the back of the acquisition, Ivanti will make further investments in development and integration with a view to offer organisations optimised software spend across client and data centre applications.

Ivanti was born of the merger of Landesk and Heat Software in January this year. And was recently announced as striking an Australian partnership with Thomas Duryea Logicalis, which will offer the vendor's software suite locally.

Landesk was acquired from Thoma Bravo by investment firm Clearlake Capital Group in early January for an undisclosed amount. At the time, Clearlake announced plans to merge the IT management and solutions vendor with Heat Software, a company it already owned, after the deal was closed.

Prior to the merger, Landesk had been on an acquisition spree, buying network security vendor Shavlik and mobile device manager Wavelink in 2013; picking up mobile application security management vendor Letmobile and mobile connectivity specialist Naurtech in 2014; adding business intelligence company Xtraction Solutions in 2015; and acquiring secure user environment management vendor Appsense in 2016.
