ISP Internode has made a cheeky attempt to lure away any Adam Internet broadband customers that are unhappy at the prospect of being owned by Telstra.
The company, which is owned by Perth's iiNet, said it would waive setup and three months of broadband fees on a bundle consisting of a minimum Easy Broadband 200GB plan and NodeLine phone service over two years.
The offer is only available to South Australian broadband users and was made within hours of Adam Internet agreeing to be sold to Telstra.
Adam Internet had been marketing itself as "the only true remaining South Australian ISP" in campaigns as late as June — a veiled reference to Internode's decision to sell to a Perth company, iiNet.
Internode - through owners iiNet - immediately set out to capitalise on any concerns that customers might have with the new arrangement.
Adam Internet's founder Greg Hicks attempted to downplay the impact that Telstra might have on his business.
"Adam is still going to operate standalone — it's not a mini-Telstra," he said. "My understanding is that it's business as usual and customers will see no different."
