The Corporate Citizen list compiled by Corporate Responibility Officer (CRO) magazine ranks organisations that best combine business objectives with responsible practices.
The list covers policy and practices relating to the environment, climate change, human rights, employee relations, corporate governance, lobbying, philanthropy and financial performance.
Commenting on the win, William A. Swope, corporate vice president and general manager of Intel Corporate Affairs Group said: “At Intel, we define success not only by our business performance, but how we transform the world in which we live and work.”
Intel’s annual $100 million investment in global education initiatives and its commitment to the environmental sustainability of its operations were the key factors in achieving the number one ranking, according to Swope.
“We invest a great deal of effort and resources toward corporate responsibility and have high expectations for ethical conduct in all parts of our business," he said. "This recognition is a testament to the ongoing work and commitment of our employees worldwide.”
Rankings are based IW Financial research and analysis, with companies predominantly drawn from the Russell 1000 Index. Intel has made the top 20 of the Corporate Citizens list since its inception 9 years ago.
