Intel Australia lures former HP marketing boss
Chee-Mei Gan

Intel Australia has hired former HP marketing boss Chee-Mei Gan as its new national distribution manager.

Gan will be responsible for helping local distributors to drive demand for Intel based products, including desktop CPUs, SSDs, NUC systems and tablets.

She was previously the director of product marketing in HP's South Pacific personal systems group, where she was responsible for driving demand and market share. Her resume at HP covers commercial and consumer PCs, laptops, workstations, thin clients and retail POS and accessories and services.

Gan also held senior roles at Lenovo for three years, as director of the vendor's software and peripherals business in Asia Pacific.

She was also head of multimedia at Nokia from 2003 to 2006, where she was responsible for sales and development of converged devices and smartphones.

While Intel has signalled a local focus on tablet sales this year, the chip giant's global consumer channel boss said earlier this year that PC sales weren't being affected by tablets.

This month Intel increased its global revenue estimates from US$12.5 billion to US$13.5 billion.
