Ingres inks deal with Australian reseller for ECM Appliance

Powered by Alfresco's open source alternative software, the ECM appliance allows users to capture, store, and preserve data, assist in the management of data, and deliver data to customers and partners.

The local systems integrator is Seed Information Management which is one of two resellers for Alfresco in Australia. The other is Lateral Minds.

Jason Leonidas, country manager A/NZ for Ingres said there is an opportunity here for resellers to differentiate themselves between the thin stream IT organisations.

"There is a real appetite for what I would call a radical change in the IT expenditure model in Australian IT orginsations at the moment.

"They are searching for a way to restructure their IT spend and it is an opportunity for resellers to show these organisations how they can do that by offering a low cost, low risk alternative to grow the business," he said.

For the Ingres Icebreaker ECM Appliance, Ingres provides the open source database for a company's advanced data repository needs, Alfresco provides the content management expertise, and their technology runs on the Ingres Database.

Companies can run the appliance on the open source Linux operating system.

Leonidas said he was very excited about partnering with Seed Information Management because it is a specialist in the content management arena.

According to Brian O'Neill, CEO Seed Information Management, A/NZ, the Alfresco and Ingres partnership will provide Australian and New Zealand customers with a cost effective, open content management solution, which will allow them to easily manage and access huge amounts of data across their organisation in a central database.

"As an Alfresco reseller, we will be able to easily install and run the ECM Appliance at the customer site which will reduce integration and configuration effort, reduce costs and free up time for implementing an effective information architecture using Alfresco," he said.
