Ingram's new HP head touts reduced complexity

Ingram Micro has appointed Deke Rayner-Harvey to oversee its newly formed HP business unit.

Rayner-Harvey was appointed business manager for Ingram Micro's HP Enterprise Server Storage Networking (ESSN) division in January.

The restructure was a result of Ingram Micro's decision last year to restructure the sales team into two distinct units: volume and enterprise technology business

As part of the restructure, Ingram formed HP ESSN combining HP Server, Storage with Networking.

Rayner-Harvey spent more than six years at HP working in the ProLiant Servers and blade systems division.

He told CRN that he worked "closely with Ingram Micro and joined the company after Ingram's restructure.

Rayner-Harvey heads a team of 12.

"I agreed with Ingram's structural changes and I saw an opportunity to drive my career and the HP business," he said.

Rayner-Harvey claimed Ingram is "ahead of the game" as HP is "going through that transition".

He said by forming the one business unit, resellers can expect the complexity to be taken out of doing HP business.

"We have to deliver a cost effective solutions and help reseller find a new revenue stream not just sell products," he said.
