Cisco Systems has signed a deal with Ingram Micro in Australia to move the configuration of its unified computing system (UCS) solutions onshore in order to cut down on time to market.
Ingram Micro’s Cisco team will put together the solutions in its configuration centre, located within the distributor’s Sydney logistics centre at Eastern Creek.
The Cisco solutions were previously configured in the United States. Resellers and customers until now had been forced to wait up to six weeks for the solutions to arrive in Australia.
Ingram Micro said the delivery times would now be reduced “dramatically”, with resellers able to specify solutions and have them configured and ready to go in as little as a week.
Ingram Micro Australia sales director Liz Wolahan told CRN the decision was made to invest in certified Cisco UCS solutions engineers locally following the launch of the new Eastern Creek centre earlier this year. Ingram Micro investment in additional hardware to meet Cisco's certification requirements.
The service was previously provided out of Cisco’s US centre via its own internal specialists.
“We know we have the right facility with scalability hence the opportunity to provide a better customer experience,” she said.
The configuration centre was opened at the beginning of the year and measures 600m2. It offers configure-to-order, testing, hardware-upgrade, software imaging, asset-tagging and other configuration services to resellers.
