Information Builders upgrades business intelligence app

Information Builders has unveiled WebFOCUS 8, the latest version of its business intelligence application designed to provide data integrity, enhanced performance and advanced analytics.

The company said that it has improved the end-user personalisation for WebFOCUS 8, and has tightened security for large-scale applications.

WebFOCUS 8 is the first business intelligence platform on the market to incorporate data profiling, according to Information Builders, and has a fully integrated performance management framework.

The framework is linked to analytical and operational reporting features, blending them together to successfully link business strategies to results, the firm said.

A business intelligence portal offers a dashboard with role- and user-based customisation. Developers can build and deploy dashboard applications based on roles and security as defined in the platform's security system.

WebFOCUS InfoAssist, meanwhile, provides levels of customisation to extend the use of ad hoc query and reporting to the broadest range of end users regardless of skill level.

"Now, instead of experiencing the pitfalls of an incomplete information strategy, companies can rely on a single framework," said Michael Corcoran, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Information Builders.

"WebFOCUS 8 can deliver faster, more tangible results, and help companies realise a more immediate return."

WebFOCUS 8 is available now in beta, and will be generally available in the fourth quarter.
