Internet service provider iiNet sold more than $50 million of hardware during its 2015 financial year.
Hardware was just a line item in upbeat results for the ISP, its last set of numbers as an independent company following the buyout by rival TPG.
iiNet's total revenue was up 11 percent to $1.12 billion, and the total number of broadband customers hit 989,000, up by 39,000.
Its hardware sales more than doubled during the period, jumping from $24.8 million to $50.4 million, according to its preliminary financial report for 2015.
Part of the credit for the sales increase went to the iPhone, with iiNet reporting an increase in mobile hardware sales after the launch of the iPhone in November 2014. The ISP offers the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, 5S and 5C as well as Samsung’s Galaxy handsets and SIM-only phone plans.
iiNet also sells modems, tablets, wireless extenders and adapters.
The ISP also generated significant revenue from tech support provider Tech2 Group, in which it took a 60 percent stake in August last year. The ISP received $36.9 million in revenue from Tech2 during the 2015 financial year, though preliminary results show Tech2 contributed a $672,000 loss before tax.
Tech2 provides residential IT support and NBN installation, as well as offering a call centre technology business through Tech2business.
At the time of the investment, iiNet also planned to extend its small and medium business support through Gizmo.
