NEW YORK (Reuters) - International Business Machines Corp's marketing chief will step down to pursue personal and business interests, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
Abby Kohnstamm will resign as IBM's senior vice president of marketing on 3 January, the newspaper reported, citing a memo sent to employees. It said the company's senior vice president for strategy, Bruce Harreld, would take on marketing responsibilities.
According to the Journal, chief executive Samuel Palmisano said in the memo that Kohnstamm "would like to spend a considerable amount of her time giving back in the non-profit sector" and would serve on corporate boards.
Kohnstamm, 52, joined IBM in June 1993. Before moving to IBM, she held several positions at American express.
