IBM Australia has filled its top channel executive position after nine months of vacancy, recruiting Rhody Burton out of SAP.
Burton will take on the title of IBM ANZ Global Business Partners director and will report directly to managing director Kerry Purcell.
"I look forward to working with the IBM leadership team and enabling our partners to take IBM’s innovative solutions and transform the market," said Burton, who departed after two years as channel sales director at SAP Australia.
IBM Australia this year has suffered a leadership vacuum in its channel business, having lost both head Phil Cameron and second-in-charge Leo Lynch to Westcon and Huawei, respectively, in December and January.
In her previous role, Burton had "successfully restructured" SAP and "drove greater customer awareness and preference", according to IBM. Prior to SAP, she spent over six years at VMware Australia in partner management roles, including a stint as acting channel director in 2010.
Burton also served in channel positions at Seagate, Crystal Decisions and Business Objects earlier in her 20-year technology career.
"Hiring someone with Rhody’s track record and experience in the IT industry will help us strengthen our channel relationships and deliver a clear ‘One IBM’ portfolio of business solutions to our partners," said Purcell.
