HP launches iSCSI LeftHand Networks product to Australian partners

The EVA storage platforms, iSCSI product from its LeftHand Networks acquisition and the G6 ProLiant ISS product range.

Paul Robson director of enterprise server and storage South Pacific for HP, and acting channel sales director, said the iSCSI is a significant investment for the company and the conference was the largest channel and customer event this year.

"The LeftHand Networks acquisition provides an iSCSI product that HP didn't have before for the channel and G6 includes 11,000 specialist products, which is the biggest launch we have done on a server platform," he said.

"It is significantly faster and uses significantly less power than the G5 product set."

Robson said he had a 'strong engagement' with the channel and 1,000 people had registered for the event including resellers who had invited their partners along as well.

"The channel is telling us that customers want value proof around cost saving or increased capacity utilisation or return on cost," he said.

"We are using the HP Technology@Work conference to showcase new products and value solutions that deliver to those customer requirements. As well as working closely with our partners Microsoft, Oracle, VMware and Intel.

"G6 launch is a massive launch for us. It gives resellers something compelling to go back to their customer and talk to them about, showing them the benchmark statistics around the value of G6," he added.

Robson said if you compare G6 with the generation 3 or 4 products, studies show a payback to the customer, in terms of increased performance and running costs, within 12 months.

"That plus the LeftHand Networks product and new EVAs is delivering what HP does - bringing HP to market and delivering our channel products for resellers to take to their customers," he said.

The themes of the conference were data centre transformation, virtualisation, adaptive infrastructure and collaboration.

Guest speakers included Paul Brandling, VP and MD of HP South Pacific and case studies from its long term customers Fosters and Animal Logic.

The Conference will move to Melbourne on 5th May.
