Hills expands AV portfolio with Community Professional Loudspeakers' IV6 commercial speaker

Hills has thrown its weight behind the new I Series Modular Vertical Array 600 (IV6), a commercial loudspeaker from US-based vendor Community Professional Loudspeakers.

The speaker boasts passive optimisation and a scalable design appropriate for complex audio installations in indoor or outdoor settings.

Hills chief executive David Lenz said demand for Community speakers grew 40 percent in the last financial year. He also revealed successful project wins with the WestConnex tunnel in Sydney, Crown Promenade in Melbourne and Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide.

“The IV6 represents a real advancement in speaker design at price point currently unavailable in the ANZ market. We’re excited to add it to our range of Community products,” said Lenz.

"Community manufacture a wide range of high-performance speakers that offer exceptional sound quality and are a perfect fit with our existing portfolio. They’re focused on the same installation markets as Hills – stadiums, hotels and retail, hospitality and tourist venues, hospitals and public buildings – and we’re confident that the launch of the IV6 will see us gain further traction in these verticals.”

Hills is also planning to showcase the speaker through industry events next month.

Commenting on the portfolio expansion, Community chief executive Steve Johnson said: “We’re excited to have Hills as our distribution partner in Australia and New Zealand, and we look forward to strengthening our position in the market through the expertise and experience Hills brings to this channel.”

Late last month, Hills announced that it had successfully taken back control of its own supply chain, ending its arrangement with a third-party provider. The distributor also announced that it had opened a new national distribution centre in Seven Hills in Sydney.

Hills expects to save approximately $1.5 million in annualised operational savings as a result. The company expects to launch a new e-commerce platform this month as well.
