Hewlett Packard Enterprise Australia boss Alan Hyde to depart

Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Australian leader, Alan Hyde, is departing the role on 30 November and will be replaced by Stephen Bovis, who will return from Singapore.

Hyde joined Hewlett Packard Australia from NEC in 2014, where he was managing director. He was also MD of SAP Australia in 2007.

Bovis is no stranger to HPE Australia, having served in a number of senior roles in-country as part of a long career with the organisation dating back to Compaq. His most recent Australian position was director of enterprise servers and storage before being promoted to an Asia Pacific & Japan role in 2009.

The unconfirmed news out of the Global Partner Conference (GPC) in Boston is part of a few senior reshuffles in the Asia-Pacific & Japan business. CRN has reached out to HPE's media team as well as several senior executives, but had not received a response at time of writing.

The change of leadership was announced to Hewlett Packard staff and partners during GPC, with numerous sources at the conference confirming the changes to CRN.

"Bovis is awesome. He is a really good guy," said one partner.

The change in leadership comes at a time of continued upheaval at HPE as the company strives to become a leaner, more nimble organisation. This process began when the $100 billion-plus corporation split into two halves: US$53 billion-turnover HPE and US$55 billion HP Inc, the printers and PCs side of the business.

While HP Inc has now settled and been boasting of a newfound innovation as a standalone entity, HPE has continued restructuring. It has sold its services business to CSC in May and only last week announced the further spin off and merge of its software business to UK company MicroFocus.

The combined Australian business posted four consecutive years of losses, according to documents filed with the Australian Securities & Investment Commission.

In its most recent results lodged with the corporate regulator, covering the 12 months to 31 October 2015, before the historic split, the combined Hewlett-Packard Australia lost $229 million.

The Australian arm of former sister company HP Inc is run by managing director Robert Mesaros, who is based out of Melbourne.
