Samsung has welcomed Channel Nine's announcement last night that the 2010 Harvey Norman State of Origin will be broadcasted in 3D.
The Federal Government has granted the network a trial 3D broadcast licence for the three matches - making it the first 3D free-to-air content broadcasted on Australian television.
Samsung is predicting high demand from sports fans eager to be the first to enjoy the immersive experience 3D delivers.
"For anyone passionate about sport, 3D provides the ultimate stadium experience from the comfort and convenience of your own home," said Mark Leathan, head of marketing, Consumer Electronics for Samsung Electronics Australia.
Leathan said it is a "landmark occasion in Australian broadcasting history."
The first and third set to be played at ANZ Stadium at Homebush Bay on May 26 and July 7, while the second game will take place in Brisbane on June 16.
