Harbour ISP chief executive Adam Simpson steps down

Harbour ISP’s chief executive Adam Simpson has stepped down after five months in the role. 

On his LinkedIn profile, Simpson indicated having left the New South Wales-based ISP in May this year to spend more time with family.

"I am taking the opportunity to spend time at home with our beautiful daughters before looking for the next challenge. I have thoroughly enjoyed the growth and excitement over the last 30 years in IT and more recently Cloud and Managed Services," Simpson wrote on his profile.

The company confirmed his departure and said that founder and former chief executive Charles Tym had stepped back in on an interim basis.

"Harbour ISP can confirm that Adam Simpson left the company in May 2018. No reasons have been provided for his departure," a Harbour ISP spokesperson told CRN.

"Company founder and chairman Charles Tym has stepped back into the CEO role until a suitable replacement is found. Harbour ISP is currently in negotiations with a candidate, and the company hopes to be able to confirm its new CEO in the next month."

Simpson was appointed Harbour ISP chief executive in January to replace Tym, who opted to step back into a directorial role. Simpson joined Harbour ISP after a seven-year stint at Canon-owned managed services provider Harbour IT, previously the parent company of Harbour ISP.

Simpson was actually first hired by Harbour IT in 1989 where he worked in engineering, before broadening his horizons elsewhere. His career spans various technical, engineering, sales and management roles for the likes of CIC Technology, Data#3, Tower Australia, MBF and Bupa. He rejoined Harbour IT as general manager for cloud services in 2010.

As GM, he led the creation and management of the managed service provider’s IT-as-a-service offering.
