Hackers hit UNSW

The University of NSW (UNSW) has shut down two dozen servers after being subjected to a “concerted” hacking effort over the past two months.

A representative for the University could not immediately tell SC what data may have been lost in the hacks, which were originally reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.

The motivation behind the attacks was also unclear.

A "number of user accounts" were suspended and 25 servers turned off on 5 January after the attacks, the Herald reported.

Forensic investigations are underway and the university said there is yet no evidence data was stolen.
