Google's Chromebox will cost $1,450 in Australia

Google has announced the launch of its Chromebox for Meetings product in Australia.

Google have put a $1,450 price tag on the product and have been quick to emphasise the value and versatility of the package, saying "for the same price that companies have typically paid for one meeting room, they'll be able to outfit 10 rooms".

The package includes an ASUS Chromebox and aims at making video conferencing less technical and more intuitive by allowing businesses to easily set up video conferences with up to 15 participants.

According to a Google blog post, "You can also connect to rooms that have traditional video conferencing systems using a new tool from Vidyo, and participants who prefer phones can join your meeting with a conference call number from UberConference."

The Chromebox itself comes bundled with a high-definition camera, a combined-microphone and a remote control that the company claims will streamline video conferencing.

Google first announced their videoconferencing solution back in February but were confident that the versatility of their Google+ Hangouts and Google Apps will help win over Aussie companies.
