Getac announces rugged tablet and notebook convertible
Getac F110 tablet and V110 convertible notebook

Getac has launched the V110 convertible notebook and the F110 tablet through distributor Synnex.

The V110 is a Windows 8 notebook featuring a unique hinge that allows the screen to flip 180 degrees and fold over. This allows the two-kilogram device to be handled as a tablet.

The F110 is a rugged 11.6-inch tablet that weighs less than 1.4 kilograms.

Both devices are powered by Intel's core i5/i7 Haswell chips. The core i5 processor is clocked at 1.9GHz and the core i7 runs at 2.1GHz, with turbo boost ramping the processors up to 2.9 to 3.3GHz respectively.

The V110 and F110 are certified against drops, shocks, dust and water.

Connectivity is a strong point for both devices. In addition to supporting the latest wireless standards – including WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G – they feature a brand new 3D antenna design and peripheral support makes it possible for them to use your car's GPS, WWAN and WLAN roof mounted antennas.

Batteries will last 12 and 13 hours for the F110 and V110 respectively, Getac claims, and the ability to hot-swap batteries means users can plug in a fresh battery without cutting the power.

Frank Bryan, Getac country manager at Synnex, said the V110 and F110 would fill a gap in the Australian market.

"These devices are ideal for mobility projects and field professionals in industries such as utilities, defence, mining, emergency services, insurance, transportation and logistics. The new thin and light rugged devices will provide an ideal platform for any mobility project without sacrificing performance, connectivity, functionality and work efficiency."

Getac's F110 and V110 will be available in mid-November for $3,599 and $3,999 respectively.
