Security software company Genetec has launched its cloud-based vehicle surveillance system AutoVu Cloudrunner in Australia and New Zealand, bringing technology that has already helped solve crimes in more than 75 North American cities.
The system combines solar-powered cameras with advanced analytics to help law enforcement and security teams track vehicles of interest and respond to incidents in real-time.
The system utilises Cloudrunner CR-H2, a solar-powered camera that can identify not just number plates but also vehicle type, make, model and colour. It operates wirelessly over 4G/LTE networks and works in all weather conditions.
"Cloudrunner will benefit local government agencies, law enforcement, and businesses that require an innovative and flexible ALPR solution," George Moawad, country manager for Oceania at Genetec said.
The system is available through Genetec's accredited partners, which includes both hardware and software on a subscription basis.
All data collected is processed and stored locally in Australia, with customers maintaining full control and ownership of their information.
The system can be integrated with Genetec's broader security platform and allows secure sharing of data between authorised agencies while maintaining chain of custody.
The technology has been specifically designed for easy installation and deployment at scale, requiring minimal training for users to get started.
