Physical security software company Genetec said it has completed the IRAP cybersecurity assessment, allowing it to provide cloud-based security systems to Australian government agencies and critical infrastructure operators.

The Infosec Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment enables government departments to use Genetec's Security Center software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, which combines access control, video management and intrusion monitoring in a single system hosted on Microsoft Azure in Australia.

The assessment also covers AutoVu Cloudrunner, a vehicle tracking system that uses automated license plate recognition to monitor traffic patterns and identify specific vehicles.

"Undertaking an IRAP assessment to the OFFICIAL:Sensitive level reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the security requirements set by the Australian Government," George Moawad, Genetec's country manager for Oceania said.

Cybersecurity firm CyberCX conducted the evaluation, which included on-site technical interviews at Genetec's Montreal headquarters to verify compliance with Australian government security standards.

The certification creates new opportunities for Genetec's Australian channel partners to provide security solutions to government agencies.

The assessment examined Genetec's cybersecurity capabilities and operational processes against the September 2024 version of the Information Security Manual (ISM).
