Melbourne-based Gamma Solutions was formed in 1992 and has offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. The system integrator specialises in data capture hardware and software. The company’s solutions vary from simple programs for barcode readers to sophisticated implementations involving wireless infrastructure. Customers include Toll Autologistics, International Energy Services, P&O Ports, Amcor, Mitre 10.
Steve Nolan, director channel and alliances, Sybase Australia told CRN Sybase chose Gamma as it has the skills and experience in the mobility space, especially in mobile device management and RFID. Additionally, Gamma also has relationships with key mobility hardware vendors like Intermec.
Sybase’s mobility technology will complement Gamma Solutions’ existing mobile computing and wireless infrastructure solution portfolios. At the heart of this partnership will be Afaria, a mobile device management and security solution, which provides control over a host of key management and security functions to any mobile device. Run from a central web-based console, Afaria enables IT staff to enforce security policies, and manage encryption for email, password recovery, and over-the-air software distribution, said Nolan
“In addition, Gamma Solutions will market RFID Anywhere, a flexible, SOA-based RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) platform, and SQL Anywhere, a mobile database,” he said.
Michael Atallah, managing director at Gamma said, its customers use mobility for a number of industry solutions such; transport and logistics (pickup and delivery, in transit visibility, warehouse operations); field service (work order management, despatch operations, route optimisation, inventory optimisation) and retail and store operations.
“We selected Sybase because they it has a good reputation in the market place. Sybase products are technically solid and feature rich. The solutions it delivers operate across a wide variety of hardware and software platforms,” he said.
Currently Sybase has around 60 working channel partners, more than half of which are in the mobile space, said Nolan.
“Besides Gamma, we have signed up a couple of new partners - in the mobility space as well as for our business intelligence and data management solutions,” he said.
