Fujitsu unveils two-processor TX200 S6 server

By on

Fujitsu has launched its next-generation Primergy TX200 S6 dual-socket tower server, which uses Intel Xeon processor 5600 series chips.

The firm said that the new product is designed to offer a combination of efficient hardware and service offerings, making it suitable for use in virtualisation environments or smaller areas for database use.

The Primergy TX200 S6 is suited to the needs of smaller or decentralised infrastructures that require more processing power, such as a file, print or email branch server. It can also work with Windows Small Business Server 2008 for use in collaborative environments like branch offices.

Joe Duran, product manager for server business at Fujitsu, claimed that the new offering will help businesses meet specific needs and reduce energy use.

"Striking exactly the right balance can often make all the difference between profit and loss. The Primergy TX200 S6 is the right all-round server for customers with decentralised infrastructures that need the power of up to two processors," he said.

"With these needs in mind we have combined optimised hardware and service offerings with the processing power of Intel's Xeon processor 5600 series chips. That way, customers get the power they need without wasting resources like electricity."

The TX200 S6 supports up to 16 2.5in SAS 2.0 hard disks, and adds support for solid state drives to provide faster input/output and availability.

The server will become part of a range launched in March that also comprises the TX300, RX200, RX300, BX920X and BX922.
