Former UXC boss Cris Nicolli joins Empired

Perth-headquartered integrator Empired has appointed former UXC chief executive Cris Nicolli to its board as an independent non-executive director.

Nicolli joined UXC in 2003 and was promoted to CEO and managing director in 2010, a role he would fill for the next five years. He announced his retirement when the company was acquired by fellow IT giant CSC in 2016 in a deal valuing UXC at $427.6 million.

Before it was acquired, UXC was touted as Australia's largest locally owned and managed IT services company, raking in $750 million in annual revenue and employing 3000 staff.

A little over a year after the acquisition was completed, CSC merged with HPE to create DXC Technology, a new company with more than 3000 clients in Australia and New Zealand and an estimated $3 billion in revenue at the time.

In addition to his new duties at Empired, Nicolli is also a non-executive director of Vista Group International and Otherlevels.

"I am delighted to welcome Cris to the board," said chairman Tom Stianos. "Cris is well known as a highly influential leader and successful businessman across the technology sector, this combined with his extensive corporate and ASX company experience is highly relevant to Empired and I am confident that his contribution will prove to be invaluable to the company."

Empired pulled in $174 million in revenue in the 2018 financial year, $117 million of which came from the Australian business while the remainder stemmed from New Zealand.
