The former chief executive of Aussie networking vendor Netcomm Wireless David Stewart has joined the board of MNF Group as an independent non-executive director.
Stewart served as Netcomm’s managing director from 1997 to his retirement in 2016.
Stewart joins other founders of homegrown networking vendors in MNF’s board, including Andy Fung, who founded Symbio Networks and Michael Boorne, who founded Spirit Modems and Mitron. Rounding out the rest of the board are chairman Terry Cuthberson and MNF Group chief executive Rene Sugo.
MNF Group’s board is Stewart’s fourth company where he has a board seat, having been named chairman of IoT vendor Pycom and security vendor Lockbox Technologies, and director of Beam communications.
Stewart founded Banksia Technology in 1988 and became a close competitor with Netcomm, which was founded six years prior. The two modem vendors merged in 1997, with Stewart becoming managing director of the merged entity until 2016.
Following Netcomm’s acquisition by US-based Casa Systems in June 2019, Stewart officially left the company after resigning as non-executive director.
