FalconStor signs with Aussie distie in market return

FalconStor has appointed Sydney-based distributor ICITA to help the vendor take back its share of the market after physically leaving Australia in late 2013.

FalconStor, which kept its local presence through distributor DataStor, re-entered the Australian market in September when it hired David Bull as technical sales director.

ICITA will focus on the distribution of the vendor's converged data services platform FreeStor.

Damien Stephens, chief executive of ICITA, said resellers and distributors needed to be able to offer a comprehensive suite of product choice.

"We are pleased to offer FalconStor solutions as part of our Vendor Alliances ecosystem.  We feel that FreeStor is ideally suited to helping our members better understand their storage requirements and how they can fully utilise storage space within their data centre and enterprise environments," he said.

FalconStor's Bull said ICITA was aware of how the local marketplace operated and would be able to guarantee FreeStor's success.

"Many organizations find themselves locked into a particular storage infrastructure, whether due to licensing obligations or economic necessity, but still need newer functionality that their traditional systems simply can’t provide," he said.

"ICITA will be able to help us educate organizations as to the benefit of adding FreeStor’s software approach and Intelligent Abstraction to unlock features and benefits that will help them compete both locally and in a global economy."

FreeStor allows IT managers MSPs, and CSPs to maximise efficiencies and lower costs while taking advantage of the cloud, hybrid cloud, flash storage and software-defined storage, according to FalconStor.
