F5 customers can now provision its application delivery and security services through Equinix’s virtual infrastructure.
A new joint solution from the vendors means that F5’s Distributed Cloud Customer Edge, part of its Application Delivery and Security Platform, can now be deployed as a virtual network function on Equinix Network Edge.
This enables secure delivery of applications across global locations without the need for physical infrastructure.
F5 customers will also gain easier access to Equinix’s global interconnection infrastructure
F5 chief product and corporate marketing officer John Maddison said that this is particularly useful for applications that are using artificial intelligence.
“AI is putting massive new demands on infrastructure, especially at the edge, where latency, security, and control are critical,” he said.
“Our expanded partnership with Equinix gives customers … a flexible, high-performance foundation to support AI-driven use cases and deliver exceptional digital experiences across any environment.”
Equinix VP of partnerships and ecosystem development, Maryam Zand, added that legacy infrastructure can slow down adoption of AI.
“By partnering with F5, we’re giving our customers a seamless way to scale their AI applications and modern distributed workloads with built-in security, compliance, and performance. This solution can help businesses innovate faster, safeguard their operations, and maintain a competitive edge,” she said.
