EY to open 24/7 cybersecurity centre in Melbourne

'Big Four' accounting firm EY has opened its largest cybersecurity centre in the region in Melbourne, offering round-the-clock managed security services.

The multi-million dollar facility will house 40 of EY's cybersecurity professionals to offer 24/7 managed services and host collaboration between the accounting firm, its customers and partners.

The company touted "highly automated" services on offer from the 2508 square-foot facility, including triaged incident response services and virtual hunting capabilities.

The new facility will also hose EY's newly created "purple team", merging "red teams" which operate outside of the company to undertake offensive security activity to identify vulnerabilities, and "blue" teams which work in-house to manage defensive capabilities.

“The EY investment in cybersecurity-as-a-service offerings has been accelerated across Asia-Pacific with the opening of this Cybersecurity Centre in Melbourne because the region is at the heart of a wave of global growth fuelled by innovation and technology advancement," EY's Asia-Pacific cybersecurity lead Richard Watson said

"We see increasing demands from Asia-Pacific clients in the financial services, TMT, industrial, utilities, healthcare, consumer and retail goods sectors, as well as demands from governments across the region who are looking to optimise their cybersecurity operations as they continue to grow in Asia.

"The new centre will play an important role to reaffirm EY’s leading position in helping organisations mitigate cyber risks and strengthen cyber resilience.”
