Express Data joins HP severance list

Another distributor, Express Data, has parted ways with market giant HP, citing "a mutual decision" as reason for the split.

Aaron Crowther, business communications manager at Express Data, said the distributor had ceased dealing with HP about two months ago.

"We don't deal with HP any more," he said

Crowther said the move was a "mutual decision". However, he could not comment any further, he said.

"We've agreed to not say anything more about the relationship [between the two companies]," Crowther said.

Express Data boss Ross Cochrane was on holiday for another week and therefore not available to comment either, he added.

Express Data, a subsidiary of South African integrator Dimension Data, had been distributing HP's high-end and Unix server and storage range, Crowther said.

The distributor joins the growing ranks of other ex-HP partners, such as Daisytek, AutoDigital Solutions, eXeed, ComputerLand and Dynamic Supplies, who all parted ways with or were cut from HP's books last year.

Events surrounding former authorised distributor Dynamic Supplies' departure -- including a stoush over monies owing -- were dragged through a multi-million-dollar case in NSW's Supreme Court last year.

HP was contacted for comment but had not yet replied at press time.
